Bhagwan Buddha at 1800 BCE or before that ????

Chapter : 1

Bhagwan Gautama Buddha :

At 1800 BCE or before That??

Part I

“Truth can be hidden in darkness of Lies & Confusions  but it came out as rising Sun”.

Today, our prominent Indic Researchers claims that Bhagwan Gautama Buddha is to be dated in 19th Century BCE. But the truth is bitter and far away from them.

I have done a research work based on literary evidences of Dipavamsa Shlokas.

• Evidence from Dipavamsa :

1.  Earthquakes during Mahinda's visit to Tamraparini :

Dipavamsa mentions that when Mahinda , son of Ashokadhamma  was residing in the Island of Tamraparini , and attained enlightenment in that Island. When he was planting the small peepal saplings  in Mahameghavahana Garden, suddenly a series of 8 strong earthquakes and thunder took place. The verse in the text is :

 ददंतम् पथिघनांतस्य महामेघवाहनं तदा।

कंपित पथवी तथा नानागज्जीत कंपनं ।।”

This Chapter encouraged  me to do research about it. On searching about this, I found a paper in Research Gate of Pankaj Kumar & Team. They were researching about the tsunamis occurred in Southeast & South Asia prior to 1500 BCE. They had taken samples of plant materials, corals, Shells and  conducted AMS C14 isotope Dating which showed that an Tsunami  was started from Karagan Lagoon region in Sri Lanka which was occurred between 3086-2754 BCE.

2.  Dipavamsa mentions that  Mahinda before meeting  Tissa , he had taken bath in the holy River Ganga(Kelani Ganga)getting purified .

• King Tissa's Capital City was Anuradhapura and that City  this Mahameghavahana Garden is located. As we know that Dipavamsa mention that the Bhikshus  felt 8 times earthquakes when they were with Mahinda in the garden. The location of Anuradhapura City can be seen as follows :

Location of Anuradhapura City

Seismic  Zones in Sri Lanka.
Anuradhapura to Colombo Epicenter Zone

Anuradhapura to South East Epicenter.

So, from the above images we can infer that around 30th Century BCE this incident happened. The Earthquakes were so Strong that an Tsunami formed from the Karagan Lagoon.

Defining Timeline of Bhagwan Gautama Buddha :

Dipavamsa mention that in 204th year of Theravada , Mahinda was born while Asoka's Coronation as King was held in 218th Year from the establishment of Theravada sect.

While, Theravada sect was established 100 years after the Parinirvana  of  Gautama Buddha.

Taking the midpoint of  the ranges between 3086-2754 BCE, around 2890 BCE ± 10 years with reference to the Coronation of King Asoka,    the timeline of Gautama Buddha will goes around 3298/3278 BCE - 3218/3198BCE.

Thus, Gautama Buddha was lived around 3298/3278 BCE – 3218/3198 BCE.

Part : 2

Defining the timeline of Gautama Buddha with reference to Kalidasa Jyothirabharanam

From Mahakavi Kalidasa Jyothirabharanam :

वर्षः सिंधुरदर्शनाम्बरगुणेर्याते कलौ सम्मिते ।
मासे माधवसंज्ञिके च विहितो ग्रंथ क्रियोपक्रमः।।

This verse means that in the year of Sindur, Ambar, Darshan and Guna when Kali started dominating, in the month of Madhava, Mahakavi Kalidasa started writing it.

Here, Sindur refers to 4 because natural Sindur is made by 4 ingredients.
Ambar refers to 0.
Darshan refers to 6 as we know that their are Shãda Darshans.
Whereas Gunas refers to 3 because their are 3 Gunas only. So, Mahakavi Kalidasa started writing Jyothirabharanam in the 4063rd year in Year name Saumya from 5525 BCE after flooding of Dwaraka.

So, Kalidasa started Jyothirabharanam in the year 1464 BCE and the year was Saumya.

Kalidasa  also mentions that it was 445th year of Saká and 60th year of Samrat Vikramaditya's victory over Sakás.

So, from the above reference we can conclude that  MahaSakáraj  which is mentioned in Sinhalese & Burmese text was started in 1908 BCE .

The Theravada texts also mentions that after 1182 years of formation of their sect, Sakás started ruling.

By adding 1182/1200 & 100 years with 1908 BCE, we get timeline of Nirvana of Gautama Buddha around 3190/3208 BCE.

So, now we can define the timeline of Gautama Buddha more broadly around 3288 BCE/3270 BCE to 3208/3190 BCE.

In the next chapter we will deal with the various epochs & personalities which was mixed up with the only one timeline of Gautama Buddha.

Chapter : 2

Mystery of  3 Epochs of  Gautama Buddha

Part : I

In the previous Chapter we have seen that with the scientific and textual evidences that Bhagwan Gautama Buddha was lived around 3288/3278 BCE to 3208/3207 BCE.

But what reasons made our Indic researchers to date the timeline of Gautama Buddha around 1800 or 1900 BCE??

  •  Reasons :

1.Samyutta Nikaya  mentions Thathagata who with his yogic powers leads to release Sun and Moon from Rahu. They considered  that it was by the Gautama Buddha.

2. Kalhana’s Rajtarangini mentions an year of  nirvana of Shri Shakya Simha which is related to the Genealogy of Kashmir's History. In this also, Shakya Simha was considered as Gautama Buddha.

3.All the Buddhist texts derives only the name of Gautama Buddha only . Until it’s correlated with the other texts we're unaware of the truth.

Now we will observe the evidence from Kalhana’s Rajtarangini  whether it’s about Gautama Buddha or not .

Reference with Kalhana’s              Rajtarangini :

• Kalhana mention a verse about the dating of Shakya Simha. The verse are as follows:

तदा भगवतः शाक्यसिहंस्य परिनिरवंते।

 अस्मिन महिलोकधातवु सार्धं वर्षा शतमः ज्ञातवा ।।

This verse means that Bhagwan Shakya Simha attained Nirvana. The leaving of this Earth by Shri Shakya Simha took place in the 100th year of the Laukika Era. ( A Cycle of 100 years).

Does Kalhana is mentioning about the Gautama Buddha ?

The answer is No.

Facts & reasons for this duel personality:

These are the following verses from Bhavishya Purana:

एतेस्मिन्नेवकालेकलि संस्तुतोहरिः।

The  meaning  of the above verse :

When Kali ( evilness) was praying to Bhagwan Shri Hari and increasing it’s power ( metaphorically), evilness was increasing in the society .

•At that time Bhagwan Kássapa Buddha reincarnated as Gautama Buddha. They attained enlightenment and spread Buddhatva and at 80 years of age Gautama Buddha attained Nirvana.

• Their later generations, Shakya Muni ruled for 10 years, renounced the world and attained enlightenment. Shudhodhana ruled for 20 years, whereas Shakya Simha ruled for 30 years.

In this, Shri  Shakya Simha is the Key to opening the Pandora Box of Genealogy of Kashmir Kings. Whereas, Gautama Buddha is the Key of Puranic Dynasties of Magadha Kingdom.

While, the timeline of Bhagwan  Adi Buddhas reincarnation is the Key for the World Genealogy.

In the next part , we will define the timeline of  Bhagwan Adi Buddha.

              Bhagwan Adi Buddha                                   (Varjadhara)

Part : 2

Timeline of Bhagwan Adi Buddha

Samyutta Nikaya mentions that when Bhagwan Adi Buddha was at Shravasti  Devaputta ( Son of Demigod) Suriyö

(Surya) was caught by Rahu , he remembered  the mantras of Adi Buddha and chanted it. Bhagwan with the yogic powers made Rahu release Surya. It was the occasion of Solar Eclipse.

Once again,  Demigod Cândima(Chandra) was captured by Ketü(or Rahu). He enchanted the mantras of Bhagwan  Adi Buddha. Once again with the Yogic powers, Ketü (or Rahu) was forced to free Cândima.

He rushed to Danava King Viprachitti after releasing Suriyö . When the King asked him why he released them, then Rahu replied him that

“If I won’t release them from captivity then from the Yogic powers of Bhagwan would burst my head into 7 pieces”.

In this, one noticeable character is Viprachitti, the father of Rahu who lived before Samudra Manthan.

So, Bhagwan Adi Buddha was lived in the very antiquity.

Skanda Purana mentions that Bhagwan Adi Buddha will (was) reincarnate(d) after passing 3600 years of Kali Yuga. The timeline which is claimed by our Indic researchers is actually belongs to reincarnation timeline of Bhagwan Adi Buddha.

There is a need to do lots of research  in the Buddhist texts to find out the truth.

For instance, Dipavamsa mentions that  Bhagwan had subjected the Yakshas and Nagas compiling them to  leave  some regions in the Island of Simhala for the human settlements. All this incidents can takes place only in times of Antiquity rather 5000/10000 BCE.

Part. :  3

Timeline of  Shri Shakya Simha

Kalhana’s Rajtarangini mentions about Shri Shakya Simha and  Sage Nāgārjunā who lived 400 years after the Parinirvana of Gautama Buddha. The verses are as follows :

This is an extract from Rajtarangini of Kalhana which mentions that after Shri Shakya Simha Parinirvana, Bodhisattva’s were travelling all over the country and going to various lands.

Nāgārjunā was writing various Buddhist texts and King Abhimanyu was ruling the Kashmir. This means King Abhimanyu was the contemporary of Nāgārjunā and  Shri Shakya Simha lived at least a century ago.

A Nepali manuscript tells us about the timeline of Shri Shakya Simha Parinirvana:

भगवते शाक्यसिंहे परिर्निविते शतं1800 वर्षः11 मासे 4 दिवस 5 शकाब्दा 1194 भाद्र दिने 14 लिखितामिदम् ………

This verse tells us that  it’s the 1811th year , 4th month and 5th day, 1194th year of Saká , 14th day of month of Bhadra pada after the Parinirvana of Shri Shakya Simha.

If we deduct 1810 from 1193, we get only 617 years whereas Dipavamsa mention that Sakás started rule 1182 years after Parinirvana of Gautama Buddha. It means that Shri Shakya Simha attained Parinirvana 567 years after Gautama Buddha.

If we imply the timeline of Gautama Buddha Parinirvana around 3208/3190 BCE. So, Shri Shakya Simha attained Parinirvana around 2641/2623 BCE.

By this , we can place the timeline of Shri Shakya Simha around 2767/2749 BCE to2641/2623 BCE.( On the basis of average life expectancy at that time).

Since, Rajtarangini is about the Genealogy of Kashmir Kings and there is mention about Jagadguru  Shri Adi Sankracharya then it will be also needed to be rectified.

As I have previously said that all the 3 personalities are the Key to the Pandora Boxes  for opening it.  In the previous parts, we’ve opened the timeline of the 3 Yogic, dynamic, Divine and  Spiritually Conscious personalities. These timelines also teaches us that the Genealogy mentioned in Puranas can have a vast or a narrow time gap. It’s through the Scientific & specific astronomical, or archeological, or  by epigraphic evidences only which only gives a relative / absolute time frame period of a genealogy or about ruling dynasty.

Part : 4

Laukika Era and its assumption in History :

Laukika Era was the Ancient Era used in Kashmir. Many Indic researchers considered it as starting point with reference to the Mahabharat War including Great poet Kalhana also.

But, the reality is far away. As we know that Shri Nilesh Oak have proved  with 300+ Astronomical evidences from the Mahabharat text that  Mahabharat War had taken place in 5561 at Kurukshetra.

Lets  have an Overlook of Kalhanas Rajtarangini :

Kalhana’s  Rajtarangini

Kalhana mentions that Gonanda III lived 2330 years before him and 52 Kings ruled for 1266 years before Gonanda III. He gives history of 3596 years.

With this he added that Pandavas & Kurus  ruled the Earth for 653 years. If we add this, then the total will be 4249 years. While, Kalhana started writing his book in 4224th  year of Laukika era. So, he mentions that only 25 years of Pandavas has passed  when the Laukika era was commenced . ( As per Kalhana’s assumption)

As per Kalhana’s Rajtarangini, King Abhimanyu was to left the throne due to the heavily revolts by the Naga people. In order to restore the peace , he retired. After him, Gonanda III coronation took place. In the above lines, Kalhana mentions that Gonanda III lived 2330 years ago from his times. Since, Nāgārjunā was  the contemporary of King Abhimanyu of Kashmir and he lived for 100 years and born after Parinirvana of Shri Shakya Simha. So, Shri Nāgārjunā would lived around 2631/2618 BCE to 2531/2518 BCE.

Since Gonanda III was lived after Shri Nāgārjunā, so if we deduct 2330 from 2531 or 2518 BCE then Kalhana’s Rajtarangini would be dated around 201/188 BCE. If we add with 4224 , then it would be around 4425/4412 BCE. As we know that Mahabharat War had taken place  in 5561 BCE as it proved from the astronomical, hydrological and genetic evidences   perfect corroboration by Shri Nilesh Oak ji.

So, it’s the assumption of our Indic Researchers  that Laukika era was commenced after or before Mahabharat War but actually it has nothing to do with it.

I have an assumption that  it might be possible that the Laukika era was commenced by King Bharat Chakravartin, elder son 1st Jain Tirthankar Shri Rishabhanatha, whose name is given Aihole inscriptions.
